Question by Morgan B: Ideas for “costume” to wear to sing “Memory” from “Cats”?
I will be performing “Memory” from “Cats” and I don’t necessarily want to dress up as a cat because it is for a pageant – and would like to wear a dress or some thing…but am open to several diverse tips! Let me know! Thanks!

I think not dressing up like a cat is a excellent strategy so sticking with your gown concept I believe it would be cute if you chose a gown that had a cat like look to it. What a about a leopard print dress or a sleek black dress? You could get the cat really feel while still searching stunning.

you really have a ton of options. you can simply just go with something Fabulous. just where a rockin gown. the song is emotional enough and technically hard, so you’re dress doesn’t necessarily have to reflect anything specific besides beauty. if you want a dress that has a connection with the song, you can do that as well. i’ve never seen the actual musical, but it seems that this song is sung at night, as the character contemplates life (past, present, future). so maybe a midnight blue gown or something that might give the hint or feeling of a stary night. i personally wouldn’t wear animal print for a pageant. it seems a little tacky and lazy…yeah, everyone knows the song is from cats but i dont feel like that the only reason why the song is so prolific. streisand sang this song. i also just found this pic of her and it looks like it might be kinda “memory” esque so i had this picture in my head of you on stage with a single spot lights with a fabulous coat on. something with a tailored cut, high dramatic collar. i also just threw in some pics of hot gowns. hope this helped!
